Why It’s Better to Adopt a Pet

This year, we have decided to adopt a new fur baby to add joy to our family. Luckily, my friend’s dog gave birth to a cute and adorable litter of puppies. So I told her that I want to adopt a girl. She did not hesitate to give me the only girl puppy and we named her Summer.

Why Summer? Initially, my daughter, Chelsea thought of “Sunflower” as a name since she was eating sunflower seeds at that time. I told her that it could be too long a name for a puppy. Finally, we both came up with, the name Summer because it was the peak of summer season when we got her and she likes the season because she can go swimming.

Chelsea has been so gentle every time she is trying to carry the puppy for the first time. She likes Summer so much that she even taught her some tricks. She taught Summer how to shake hands and to stay. She also tried to teach the same thing to one of our cats, Jal. Did Jal make it? Watch the video and find out!

What Are the Benefits of Adopting a Pet

Adopting a pet is a decision that can bring joy and fulfillment to both the pet and its new owner. When considering getting a pet, many people may be tempted to buy from a breeder or pet store. However, adopting a pet from a shelter or rescue organization has many advantages.

First and foremost, adopting a pet saves a life. Shelters and rescue organizations take in millions of animals each year, and many of them face the risk of euthanasia due to overcrowding. By adopting a pet, you not only provide a loving home for an animal in need, but you also help reduce the number of animals in shelters and rescues.

Another advantage of adopting a pet is that you can often find a great companion at a lower cost than purchasing from a breeder. Adoption fees typically cover the cost of vaccinations, spaying or neutering, and other medical procedures that the pet may need. These costs can add up if you were to purchase a pet from a breeder or pet store.

Adopting a pet can also be a great way to teach children about responsibility and compassion. Children can learn the importance of caring for another living being and develop empathy and nurturing skills by taking care of a pet. Additionally, adopting a pet can provide a sense of purpose and companionship for older adults or those living alone.

When you adopt a pet, you also gain access to resources and support from the shelter or rescue organization. Many shelters offer training classes, behavioral support, and other resources to help ensure a smooth transition for the pet and its new owner. Additionally, adopting a pet from a reputable shelter or rescue organization can provide peace of mind that the pet has been evaluated for temperament and health.

In conclusion, adopting a pet has many advantages. It saves a life, can be more cost-effective, teaches responsibility and compassion, provides companionship, and offers access to resources and support. When considering adding a furry friend to your family, it’s worth considering adopting from a shelter or rescue organization. Not only will you be providing a loving home for an animal in need, but you’ll also be enriching your life with the love and companions
